Details about SeaDrive Pro will be discussed later in the how to guides. You can always try this later.
SeaDrive does not require a profile or sign up to get started. You will be met with a chart view when getting started like you see below:
CHART VIEW ON FIRST LOAD
The Tool Bar is shown on the right hand side of the app and is notated as 1 above. The Tool Bar is always visible when looking at your chart. This only disappears when working in the settings. This is something that we will discuss below.
There are four tools on the tool bar. Starting from the bottom:
The bottom drawer provides you with a combination of additional tools and information. At the top of the bottom drawer you will find search and the settings icon. We will discuss more about settings later. Next, you will find a recents section... this should be empty but as you use SeaDrive and record tracks, create markers, and create tracks you will see all of these show up in recents. This will give you quick access to where you want to go.

Below this are tools:
Click any location on the chart and you will see the drawer change to chart details. This will provide you with information like you see bellow. You can mark this location by clicking the button that shows.
Insert Chart Detail Picture
Coming back to the top of the bottom panel is an icon that looks like the silhouette of a person. This button will open the settings.
Marking a location is just like dropping a pin on Apple Maps. This is quick and easy to do with SeaDrive. Simple tap the map and the bottom drawer will change to chart details. If any underwater hazards or other chart info is available for that location it will be displayed. A button will be at the top of the drawer that says Mark This Location.
Taping that button will bring up the New Marker screen. Add all the details about the location that you want here. Don't forget to give your marker a unique icon!
All Markers can be found quick in the settings under markers. They latest activity always shows up on the Bottom Drawer under the search. You should also see these makers on the chart as you navigate around.
Sharing
Sharing on SeaDrive uses .gpx files. This allows SeaDrive users to import data from other, albeit less impressive apps. To share a marker either open the marker details by selecting on the icon in your favorites, touching the marker on the chart or finding it in the markers list under settings.
At the bottom of the marker details screen you will find a Share button - select that and send to anyone of your friends. They will receive file that they can open with SeaDrive.
Recording a track is a very simple task with SeaDrive but is super powerful when you want to look back on where your journey on the water has taken you.
What is a Track - I track is a recording of you gps location and data while underway. This is similar to mapping your run or bike ride when exercising. Tracks can provide the breadcrumb trails you need to safely navigate through poor conditions in the future.
In order to record a track go to the bottom drawer and you will see a button that says Record My Track. Clicking this button will activate the GPS/Location services. Your chart will zoom into your location and the recording will begin. (Note: You will be prompted to allow the use of location services. Please allow them or this feature will not work.)
While a track is recording feel free to use other features of SeaDrive, this will not stop the recording. One helpful hit, click on the location icon on the toolbar to change to a heading line.
In order to end track recording you can touch the button Record My Track. This will bring you to 3 options save, pause, and delete track. Pausing is a special case that can be used during a pit stop on the water but you want to record the whole track. Example: you stop at a gas dock but do not was to record at that time. Once you are underway again hit the Record My Track button and select resume.
It is as simple as that. Find all of your recorded tracks in the settings under tracks. Also, you should see your most recent tracks right on the bottom drawer as an icon under the search.
Updating vessel settings is critical to getting estimates on routes and other tools on SeaDrive. There are two primary ways to update this information.
Updating this information will automatically adjust your estimates for all previously created routes.
Chart features like overlays and safety depths come in handy on the water to give you the visual clues you need to make the right choice when navigating.
Chart overlays are available from the right tool bar. Touch the third icon which looks like a map. This will pop up a drawer that shows you a few options called "Choose Map"
First option is theme.
These themes will changes with the system settings as your device automatically changes from light to dark mode.
Second option is land overlay.
Third option is data overlay.
Data overlay is our newest overlay category. We plan on continuing to add more overlays including wind particles, currents, etc...
Safety Depths are shown on the chart as little red dots overlaying areas where the water is too shallow for the desired safety depth. If you would like to change the safety depth go to your setting and select "display."
Note: You can also change the depth shading here too
Sea & weather conditions are simpler then ever to access on SeaDrive. First, zoom into the location that you are interested in. While looking at the chart just select the "Sea & Weather Conditions" button in the bottom drawer. This will pull up the weather on a new screen as shown below.
Here you can find wind, daily, and hourly forecast info. Simply swipe through the hourly forecast to see more information about the conditions in the days ahead. The hourly forecast chart conditions very important data like wind speed, wind gusts, swell information (size and period) and much more! Try it out today!
In the bottom drawer select "Tides & Currents". This will open up a new screen that give you two options: Search Tide Locations and View Map. When selecting view map you will be presented with a chart showing just the tidal stations. Select the station that you are interested in and this will show a tidal preview at the bottom of the screen. Select open to see the full set of information about tides and currents.
You can get to the same information by choosing to search instead of looking at the map view. SeaDrive will take note of the tide & current information that you look at most and will add the station to your recent list. This makes accessing this information later even faster.
Tide and current information works off of standard prediction models and reflect the same information that you would be getting from standalone apps, NOAA, and other marine weather sources.
